Have a Go Side Saddle Day

What a fantastic day we all had when the Area 12 Side Saddle Association came to visit. 10 members had the most amazing time, most got to walk, trot and canter (feeling very glamorous – albeit a bit unsteady at times) and a few even had a jump!!

A superb session – highly recommended

Great Result at the BRC National Championships

Well what a weekend – not only did we have the Burghley Horse Trials on our doorstep, but we had some fab competitors who went along to the BRC National Champs in Lincoln – and what a day they had.

Our senior team (Claire Ludeks, Debbie Robinson, Shayni Caffell and Jo Meikle) only went and clinched second place in the 80cm show-jumping, with Claire also being placed 2nd individually.

Nikki Webb who had won the Area qualifier with the only double clear round in the 90cm class, achieved a pretty decent score of 4 faults over a tough and big course.

Claire Marcus and Debbie Robinson were also dancing in the pairs dressage – and managed a creditable 12th place.

How proud are we.

Well done girls

Franklin Clinic with Claire Llewelyn-Sun 8th March 2020

Franklin Balls were developed in Germany by Dr Eric Franklin, originally to help sports people but they have now been developed to help Equestrians. I have attended a course to learn how these work and am now trained in their use. The balls are different sizes and shapes, either filled with air or water, which are used in different ways, for example under seat bones, thighs and armpits to help riders develop their balance, core strength, straightness and suppleness. They help identify areas riders need to work on, and also really show how the rider influences the horse’s way of going. We have found that horses become more forward, relaxed and straighter and riders become more ‘bodily aware’. It’s absolutely ...
