What do bending poles, lots of cones and poles on the ground, water crossing and some happy riding have in common..... Le Trec !
What started as a French Tourist Board qualification has developed into a new sport. Our riders braved a rather miserable damp morning to try the control of the paces, and a series of obstacles. We went up and down, round the S-bend, through the narrow corridor, under the branches, over the bridge (well the purple simulated one), in-between poles and some more in a 2 hour training session. The way Le Trec is marked means you go at your own pace and can opt out of tackling any obstacle. It’s great for young or old horses or riders! Go on give it a go on our next training session on Saturday 3rd December.

We now have our own crowd control horses!
A recent clinic on de-spooking with Intelligent Horsemanship Recommended Associate Garry Bosworth was greatly enjoyed by those who took part. In a very short period of time the horses went from being worried to accepting lots of scary objects. The horses probably thought they were going through Police Horse training by the time they had to walk under flags and over plastic sheets, not to forget the balloons, flappy plastic & umbrellas being waved all around them.
The time between these before & after photos was literally just 10mins – isn’t it amazing what can be achieved in such a short period of time by just approaching it the right way!
