Quadrille Demo and Have-a-go Clinic

Wow – what a fabulous day we had on 8th August with Rearsby Lodge Riding Club who came along with their Quadrille instructor, retired cavalry officer, David Boyd, to show us how fabulous the art of Quadrille is.

An amazing demonstration by their squad of 12 followed by an hour’s lesson with David for 12 of our own WARC guinae pigs.

And as if that wasn’t enough, all 24 riders then joined together for a final display.

The morning was rounded off with tea and cake including two fabulous cakes in the two club colours made by Rearsby.

Thank you to everyone involved, to Emma for organising, everyone who took part or came along to watch.

A few photos and video clips to enjoy (thank you to everyone to shared their lovely images) – much more on our Facebook group.

Franklin Balls were developed in Germany by Dr Eric Franklin, originally to help sports people but they have now been developed to help Equestrians. I have attended a course to learn how these work and am now trained in their use. The balls are different sizes and shapes, either filled with air or water, which are used in different ways, for example under seat bones, thighs and armpits to help riders develop their balance, core strength, straightness and suppleness. They help identify areas riders need to work on, and also really show how the rider influences the horse’s way of going. We have found that horses become more forward, relaxed and straighter and riders become more ‘bodily aware’. It’s absolutely fascinating! 45 mins group session (no more than 4 people) £15 members, £20 non-members Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis with priority given to members.
