Welcome to Wittering Academy Riding Club
Hello and welcome to Wittering Academy Riding Club.
As you may or may not know the Club was established in 2007 and is affiliated to British Riding Clubs and sits in the Area 7 region. In the last 11 years we have grown in size and developed a very successful mentoring system and competition calendar. We also offer clinics and training in many fields of Equestrianism. Our unique mentoring system allows each member to benefit from the extensive knowledge of our experienced, professional instructors. Each member is assigned a mentor in their chosen field. But there is also the chance to take part in clinics in other fields too, as each mentor’s clinic is open to all members as either group or private sessions.
We believe that people develop better in a fun and friendly environment, and pride ourselves on being supportive and encouraging to all our members whatever their level of experience or competitive (or not) ambitions.
We also run regular competitions in all disciplines, where we aim to cultivate healthy competition, as well as nurturing total beginners. As our committee is made up of both non-riders and riders of all levels, I believe we are perfectly equipped to do this. We welcome riders of all ages and abilities, and non-riders are welcome too.
We also regularly have teams competing in Area 7 qualifiers.

Our Club
As well as an emphasis on Training, the Academy is keen to build good spirit and humour between members of the local horsey scene. As a result, we are keen to cater for non-riding members by offering horse care seminars, including first aid for horses, course building and lunging etc. Non-riding members will also be able to participate in a programme of ‘extra curricular’ events that are both fun and in some way complementary to riding.
For example:
– Group Yoga sessions
– Horse & Human nutrition sessions
– DVD nights
– Pub/Beach rides
– Treasure hunts
– Horse/Human massage
– And so on…
Although the Academy has been set up and is run by a committee, all members are expected to contribute to the running of the Academy in some way. To enable us to run events for everyone’s benefit we ask that members help with:
– Refreshments
– Fence judging
– Distribution of competition schedules
– Social events
– Organising & running events
– Stewarding and so on
For your efforts we will reward you with Training Vouchers with can be redeemed against any Academy-run training event and merchandise. To contact the Academy, email: info@witteringacademy.com
